Australia has many unique places to visit and set up camp for a picnic with the family. Go one better and take the family to see a film.
We have curated a list of Australia's best outdoor cinemas to visit this Summer.
As Spring descends from us and Summer emerges, there’s a few things we know for sure; Summer means BBQ’s, time at the beach, a few beers, the expense and stress of Christmas, but most importantly a little bit of time off to enjoy and immerse yourself with your family.
Benny’s Boardroom have made it completely easy for you to get the families together and get stuck in to a night of entertainment. Here is our go to locations across Australia to watch a flick and relax. Some more child friendly than others, with the odd cinema in there for you and your special one to escape the stresses of Summer together for a night out.

Sydney’s Moonlight Cinema is one of the cities go to events for Summer. It runs annually from Thursday December 1 2016 - Sunday April 2 2017 and is featuring films such as La La Land, Lion, Allied and Passengers as well as a bunch of favorites and child friendly films and of course some of everyone’s favorite nostalgic titles. Based in the beautiful surrounds of Sydney’s Centennial Park, Moonlight Cinema also has their special Food Truck and bar there to sort you out. Keep in mind though that the events are BYO, which makes it ideal.

One of the more prolific outdoor cinemas in Australia is Melbourne’s Roof Top Cinema. This sensational location is set atop the Curtin House in Melbourne’s CBD that overlooks the city and all its greatness. Jam packed with plenty of food and drink options for everyone to be happy. The cinema is owned and run by a progressive group of individuals, so a rare and unique experience is on the cards. Although this is an 18+ location, minors are eligible to gain entry in to the venue with a legal guardian. Being one of Melbourne’s best venues, bookings are essential. Just be sure you check in to Mesa Verde for their pre-cinema food package for all attending the rooftop.

Adelaide’s pop up happens in the Brian Nadilo Reserve on the beautiful Glenelg Foreshore. Picturesque beach front location and ice-cream for the kids. The instalment falls just a tad out of Summer, for a month from March 9th – April 9th 2017. The Cinema has a Jar Bar that serves up some ice cold Beer, Cider and a mammoth amount of lollies, as well as a huge selection of pizzas. The program is yet to be announced, so stay tuned for that.

Darwin’s Deckchair Cinema
Darwin’s Deckchair Cinema, like Adelaide’s Ben + Jerry Open Air Cinema, falls just outside of Summer, and thankfully for that. The Darwin Summer is a scorcher. But we couldn’t leave this one off the list. It’s probably one of the most picturesque and amazing open air cinemas going around. The Deckchair Cinema screens a whopping seven nights a week from April to November and seats around 400 people. Depending on the night there are caterers that serve a range of food, but you’ll have to be quick as they’re known to sell out. Be sure to follow this special event to stay up to date with all of the showing dates for 2017.
Where: Deckchair Cinema, Jervois Rd, Darwin City, Northern Territory.
